My Top Five File Categories

The picture above shows the important file categories I have on my phone and on my laptop. As seen, I have categorized them based on how I use it. The smartphone backup files include all of the pictures and videos I have taken, those nostalgic to me worth saving, along with the applications that were by default saved in my Google Drive. The second category is the academics file group where I have my readings, books, and notes for the school year. Along with the notion workspace, these are organized based on the subjects and modules. Thirdly, I consider my Spotify and Netflix files important as they are my source of entertainment when I am on the go. I feel incomplete without them, especially my Spotify playlists. Outside of these paid apps are the Pirated Media, especially games of past gaming consoles played using an emulator. These are for entertainment at home, to wind down and play again the classics of the yesteryears. Lastly, I have my Prop/Miscellaneous files compiled for my previous works in Photoshop, Powerpoint, and Python codes. All of these I consider important since they are a part of who I am and how I work.

There is this fear that I have with these virtual files. One may hack into my devices and lock it out, prohibiting access to anyone including me. Viruses and malware can corrupt documents. Cloud servers might shut down and user files will be considered nonexistent and lost in those servers alone. To add, I can even lose my local files if my drives are damaged by physical circumstances (Liquid, Fire, Impact, etc.)

That is why it is always important to have multiple storage devices. Back up files in a safe external drive where it will stay untouched unless in an emergency. Use multiple cloud servers so that you can opt to another copy if one cloud providing server shuts down. In the case of physical drives, taking care of your computer (protecting them from spillage, faulty wires, overheating, etc.) is a great precaution to keep important files safe. Most importantly, surf safely on the web and install antivirus and antimalware software to prevent hacking and viruses.
